Why am I starting a blog about my weight loss journey half a month before I plan to start, you ask? Good question. Let's just say, I know myself and I know my willpower and starting a healthy lifestyle at Christmas is just not a go for me. Even though my pants are too tight. And I'm at the highest weight I've ever been when not pregnant and that was when I stepped on the scale 3 weeks ago. Before the pants became uncomfortably tight. What a terrible excuse, I know. I also know I have a party or gathering every weekend from now through December 31st. So I will be eating all the food and drinking all the drinks. As one of my resolutions is to cut out alcohol aside from special occasions (ie, my birthday in March, my friend's wedding in April), forgive me if I overindulge before cutting cold turkey. That's largely how I gained all my weight plus 20 lbs back.
In 2015, I lost 25 lbs. I was working out everyday at lunch and eating really well with the occasional indulgence. I really liked the way I looked for my cousin's wedding. Then we put our first home up for sale. It took a year to sell. So between the stress of making sure my house was market ready every day with a toddler and a 2nd grader and the stress of doing it mostly alone as my husband was already working in our new town while living with my parents for 3 days at a time, I gained 15 lbs while still going to the gym every weekday. Not too bad in the grand scheme of things, but not so great either. Then we lived with my parents for 6 weeks. That was stress on all of us, lol. I suddenly wasn't going to the gym because I couldn't go at lunch anymore and the afternoon drive to get the kids near our new house and then driving to my parents was not conducive to going after work. I put on another 7 lbs.
Finally in May 2016 we moved into our new home. We started eating better. Still wasn't going to the gym though. I always felt guilty going after work while the boys were sitting at daycare. Then The Flood of 2016 happened. My brand new house had 8 inches of water. We moved back in with my parents for 3 months. I started drinking A LOT. We were luckier than most. We were back in with our finished house by January 1st 2017.
2017, New Year New Me...or not. I started going to Zumba 3 times a week. I started lifting again. But I couldn't kick the crap food or alcohol. Slowly, I stopped going to the gym. Now here I am. 45 lbs heavier than I was in 2015. When I was still 30 lbs overweight. So 2018, New Year New Me X 2
