A Start is a start no matter when
So, it didn't exactly start as planned. The 1st week of the New Year, my youngest was fighting a horrible case of strep. Thankfully it wasn't the flu that seemingly has affected every family in our Parish! So there were no workouts, but there was good eating (even on New Years Day when at the in-laws for a football party!). Then I get a phone call about lunch from my husband. "Do you want to go see Katy Perry in NOLA for free with a free hotel?" So there went my good week. And my dry January 6 days into it. And ALLLLLL the money, lol. So boo. But, the concert was awesome.
Now it's week 2 into January and I've "started again." But this isn't a race and it's a lifetime commitment. Sometimes it's ok to let loose and let go. Preferably not at the beginning, but my husband and I hadn't had a night out like that since before the youngest was born. He'll be 5 in April.
My meal planning this week was a little (lot) shoddy. I generally do it at work where I have a lot of downtime. But last week I only had one day at work so I had to actually work the whole day, lol. It always makes me feel a bit off and makes grocery shopping harder when I don't meal plan. My lunches were easy enough, but the dinners were a little on the fly and make it work. I've done well (aside from a snack attack last night) and I am down, so I guess for this week I can let myself slide on the prepping and planning.
Workouts have been a struggle. Both days I went to the gym after work, I texted my husband to tell me not to go. But go I did and there was a little ribbing about where I'd been of course. Which is nice if you think about it. They care enough to know you've not been there. Zumba is definitely were I was teased the most. It'd been 4 months! Tonight is Zumba again and man, am I sore. But I am still going because I promised tonight's instructor that I'd be there. We were taking classes together for almost a year when she became certified and started teaching the Thursday class. I really need to figure out a good schedule. Right now this is what it looks like and my workouts with weights so I can see how far I've come later on:
Monday - Biceps and Back - 40 minutes
Lat pulldown 3x10 60 lbs
Seated cable row 3x10 60 lbs
Back extensions 3x10 body weight
Upright row 3x10 20 lbs
Bicep curls 3x10 20 lbs
One Arm Row 3x10 15 lbs
Tuesday - Zumba - 60 minutes
Wednesday - Chest and Triceps - 40 minutes
Flat Bench Press 3x10 15 lbs
Fly Machine 3x10 40 lbs
Triceps Pushdowns 3x10 20 lbs
Dumbbell pullover 3x10 15 lbs
Overhead extenstions 3x10 10 lbs
Thursday - Zumba - 60 minutes
Tomorrow is supposed to be Shoulders and Abs and Saturday is supposed to be Legs. I'm notoriously terrible about going to the gym on Fridays, but maybe it'll be easier knowing I'm not going home to a bottle of wine. Sunday is supposed to be rest day. I honestly don't know if I can even do Shoulders tomorrow with how heavy my arms feel right now plus Zumba tonight. I may need to make Wednesday my off day and go to the gym Saturday AND Sunday, though I hate taking that time out from weekend stuff with the family. I suppose I'll see how I feel tomorrow and make my decision then. I'd just do Legs tomorrow, but then I know I won't go to the gym on Saturday and it's my longest workout.
So, after Eat and Drink All The Things December, I weighed in at 224.4 on January 1st. Better than I was thinking, but terrible in how much I let myself go. I've been weighing myself the last couple of days, but I won't make this a weekly weigh in thing. I'll post my weight again on February 1st. Hopefully 10 lbs down :FingersCrossed:
Here's this month's picture from my super fun time with Katy.
